Given :  Two natural numbers X and Y are such that LCM (X, Y) is 24 x 36 x 7 and HCF (X, Y) is 2 x 7

To find : Value of X & Y

Solution:

HCF (X, Y) is 2 x 7

=> HCF (X, Y) = 14

Let say X & Y

are 14a  & 14b

such that a & b are co prime

X * Y  = LCM ( X , Y) x HCF (X , Y)

=> 14 a * 14 b  = 24 * 36 * 7  *  2 * 7

=> ab = 432

1 * 432

432 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 3 * 3

16 * 27

a & b are 16 & 27 for co prime

Hence    14 * 1    & 14 * 432

= 14 , 6048

or

14 x 16  & 14 x 27

= 224  , 378

Value of X & Y are  224  , 378  or 14 , 6048
