let x be common multiple then ratio will be
7x:10x
if larger number ie. 10x is 140 , then
10x=140
x= 14 ...

so the smallest number ie 7x will be...
7x = 7×14
= 98...

so the small number is 98...

Let x and y are two numbers,

y > x

x : y = 7 : 10

Sum of the ratio = 7 + 10 = 17

10 parts = 140

1 part = 140 / 10

= 14
Smaller part = 7 parts

= 7 × 14

= 98
