Given ratio of two nos.=2:3
Let the common ratio be x.
Then the nos. are 2x and 3x.
Now given,
If 4 is subtracted from each of the numbers then they are in the ratio 3:5.
Then on subtracting 4 from each no.,the nos. become (2x-4) and (3x-4).
Present ratio=3:5
ATP,
(2x-4):(3x-4)=3:5
=)(2x-4)/(3x-4)=3/5
=)5(2x-4)=3(3x-4)
=)10x-20=9x-12
=)10x-9x=20-12
=)x=8.
Then the nos. are
2x=2×8=16
3x=3×8=24.
