let their ratio be x
so the two numbers are: 5x and 3x

now, according to question

5x - 3x =18
2x =18
x= 9.

therefore the two numbers are:
5x= 5 x 9= 45
and
3x= 3 x 9 = 27
answer.

just in case you want to verify

45-27=18
