It remains 9 as 9 is still the highest number in the given data

When two numbers 2, 5 are added to the given data, the mode does not change. It remains same.

From the given data, we have

x      f

1      2

2     3

5     2

8     1

9     1

  • Mode is the observation with highest frequency.
  • From the given data, 2 has the highest frequency i.e, 3.
  • Therefore, 2 is the mode of the data.
  • When 2, 5 are added to the data, the frequency of 2 changes to 4 and that of 5 increases to 3.
  • Hence, frequency of 2 is still the highest and it is the mode even after adding 2,5.
