Two numbers are auch that the ratio between them is 3:5 if each is increased by 10 the ratio between the new numbers so formed is 5:7 find the orignal number

Let numbers be x and y, so we have

x/y = 3/5

5x = 3y

x = 3/5 y.....(1)

Now we have

x + 10 / y + 10 = 5/7

7x + 70 = 5y + 50

7x - 5y = -20.....(2)

Solving (1) and (2) we get

7(3/5)y - 5y = -20

21/5 y - 5y = -20

21/5 y - 25/5 y = -20

-4/5 y = -20

4y = 100

y = 25

so x = 3/5 (25)

x = 15

Therefore numbers are 15 and 25
