Step-by-step explanation:

let the 2 numbers be x and y, and their sum is x+y

if the first number is increased four times, their sum is increased three times

4x+y = 3(x+y)

4x+y = 3x+3y

x= 2y

If the second is reduced four times, their sum is smaller for 8/5.

x+(y/4) =(8/5)

put x = 2y

2y + (y/4) =(8/5)

(9y/4)=(8/5)

9y=32/5

y= 32/45

x= 64/45
