two numbers are in a ratio 4:7 .if thrice the larger is added to twice the smaller, we get 87 . find the numbers.

Here is your answer ----

=> Let the numbers be 4x and 7x respectively.

ATQ

=> 3 (7x) + 2 (4x) = 87

=> 21x + 8x = 87

=> 29x = 87

=> x = 87 ÷ 29

=> x = 3

The numbers are -
1. 4x = 4 × 3 = 12
2. 7x = 7 × 3 = 21

let the number be x
therefore 1st number =4x
and 2nd number =7x
A.T.Q
3(7x)+2(4x)=87
21x+8x=87
29x=87
x=87/29
x=3

1st number =12
and 2nd number =21
