Answer :-

Let the numbers be 6x and 7x respectively.

According to the question,

6x + 7x = 169

=> 13x = 169

=> x = 169/13

=> x = 13

Now,

6x = 6 × 13 = 78

7x = 7 × 13 = 91

Given :

  • Two numbers are in ratio 6:7.
  • The sum of the numbers is 169.

To find :

  • Two numbers.

Solution :

Two numbers are in ratio 6:7.

Let the 1st number be 6x and the 2nd number be 7x .

According to the question :-

  • The sum of the numbers is 169.

\implies\sf{6x+7x=169}

\implies\sf{13x=169}

\implies\sf{x=\dfrac{169}{13}}

\implies\sf{x=13}

Now put the value of x = 13 for getting two numbers.

★ 1st number = 6x = 6×13 = 78

★ 2nd number = 7x = 7×13 = 91

Therefore, the two numbers are 78 and 91.

Verification :-

  • 1st number = 78
  • 2nd number = 91

Ratio of two numbers = 6:7

→ 78 : 91 = 6:7

→ 6 : 7 = 6:7

Sum of two numbers = 169

78+91 = 169

→ 169 = 169
