Let the 2 numbers be 2x and 3x
5 added to 2x would be 2x+5
5 added to 3x would be 3x+5
According to the question,
2x+5/3x+5= 5/7
On cross- multiplication, we get
(2x+5)*7= (3x+5)*5
14x+35= 15x+25
On transposing 14x to R.H.S and 25 to L.H.S, we get
35-25= 15x-14x
10= x
Therefore, x=10
The first number is 2x =2*10=20
Second number is 3x= 3*10=30
Therefore, 20 and 30 are the 2 numbers.
