let the common factor be x
So, first number = 3x second number = 7x

According to the question,

3x + 7x = 710
10x = 710
x = 710/10
x = 71

So, the numbers are 213 and 487

kkhan0791: 2nd number 497, not 487. Right? bcoz 71*7=497

Given

  • Two numbers in the ratio 3:7
  • Also given their sum is 710

To solve

We are asked to find the numbers

Solution

The solution to the given problem can be found using a simple mathematical equation

The solution to the above problem is as follows

Let the unknown quantity be= x

So we get the new quantities as 3x and 7x

Now we just have to sum these together we get it as

  • 3x+7x= 710
  • So we get 10x= 710

This implies X =   \frac{710}{10} = 71

So now we get x= 71 -- Equation 1

Now we have to multiply the values of x with the ratios

So now we get 71*3= 213----- Answer 1

And now 71*7= 487--- Answer 2

So the numbers are 213 and 487
