Let number be x. /. Then ratio= 4x and 5x. / 16 is added to each then number = 4x+16. And. 5x+16. After adding 16 number = 6:7 Then, 4x+16:5x+16=6:7 4x+16/5x+16=6/7 28x+112=30x+96. Then x = 8 Then numbers = 4x = 4*8=32, 5x=5*8=40

Let the two numbers be x and y. The ratio is given 4:5. x/y=4/5=>5x=4y=>5x-4y=0. x+16/y+16=6/7=>7x+112=6y+96=>7x-6y=-16. 5x-4y=0-----*7=>35x-28y=0. 7x+6y=-16-------*5=>35x+30y=-80. Then do simultaneous equation,u will get. -58y=80=>y=1.4. Then substitute the value of y in any one of the equation u will get x=1.1. Therefore the two numbers are 1.4,1.1
