Two numbers are in the ratio 4: 5. If 5 is added to each number, the ratio becomes 13 : 16.find the number.

Let the no.s be 4x and 5x

After adding 5 to each no.

4x + 5 = 13

5x + 5 16

13( 5x + 5) = 16( 4x + 5)

65x + 65 = 64x + 80

65x - 64x = 80 - 65

x = 15 -----------(1)

Put the value of x

from equation (1)

First no. = 4x = 4 x 15 = 60

Second no. = 5x = 5 x 15 = 75 Ans.
