Answer:

It is given that;

Two numbers are in ratio 4:7.

Thus ,

Let the first number be 4x

and the second number be 7x.

Also,

According to the question,

When 1 is subtracted from each of them, then their ratio becomes 9:16.

ie;

=> (4x - 1):(7x - 1) = 9:16

=> (4x - 1)/(7x - 1) = 9/16

=> 16(4x - 1) = 9(7x - 1)

=> 64x - 16 = 63x - 9

=> 64x - 63x = 16 - 9

=> x = 7

Thus;

First number = 4x = 4•7 = 28

Second number = 7x = 7•7 = 49

Hence,

The required numbers are 28 and 49.

★ Given :-

Two numbers are in ratio 4:7.

★ Assuming :-

So,

Let the first number be 4a.

and the second number be 7a.

★ Solution :-

A.T.Q

(4x - 1):(7x - 1) = 9:16

(4x - 1)/(7x - 1) = 9/16

16(4x - 1) = 9(7x - 1)

64x - 16 = 63x - 9

64x - 63x = 16 - 9

x = 7

Hence,

\boxed{\blue{\bf{First \: number\: = 4x = 4(7)= 28}}}

\boxed{\blue{\bf{Second \: number = 7x = 7(7)= 49}}}

Therfore ,

The required numbers are 28 and 49.
