Two numbers are in the ratio 5:8. Their sum is 200 more than there difference. Find the grearer of the two

Let the numbers be 5x & 8x.

Sum of numbers = 5x + 8x

= 13x

Difference of numbers = 8x - 5x

= 3x

As per given condition:-

$3x + 200 = 13x \\ \\ 200 = 13x - 3x \\ \\ 10x = 200 \\ \\ x = \frac{200}{10} \\ \\ x = 20$

So the numbers are:-

8x = 8 × 20

= 160

and

5x = 5 × 20

= 100
