Two numbers are in the ratio 7:5 . If the sum of the numbers is 144, find the numbers.

The two numbers are in the ratio 7:5 then-
first number= 7x
second number= 5x
Now their sum = 144
So, 7x+5x = 144
12x = 144
x = 144/12
x = 12

Now the first number 7x = 7×12= 84
The second number 5x = 5×12= 60

If the ratio of two numbers is 7:5,
Then 7x + 5x = 144
         => 12 x =144
         =>  x    = 144/12
          =>  x =  12
Then    7x  =  7 * 12
                  =   84 .............(i)
Again    5x  = 5*12
                   = 60 ................(ii)
So two numbers are 84 and 60.
