The sum of the original number is 51

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : two numbers are in ratio 6: 11

Therefore

Let x be the common ratio

First number = 6 x

Second number = 11 x

Now 6  is subtracted from each number then the ratio becomes 4:9

According to question we have

\dfrac{6x-6}{11x-6} =\dfrac{4}{9} \\\\\Rightarrow 9(6x-6)=4(11x-6)\\\\\Rightarrow 54x-54=44x-24\\\\\Rightarrow 54x-44x=54-24 \\\\\Rightarrow 10x= 30 \\\\\Rightarrow x=\dfrac{30}{10} = 3

Hence the first number is 6 x 3 = 18

and second number is 11 x 3 = 33

Therefore sum is 18 + 33= 51
