Given : Two numbers are in the ratio of 7 : 4.
9 is subtracted from each one of them, the ratio becomes 4 : 2.
To Find : the numbers.
Solution:
Two numbers are in the ratio of 7 : 4.
Assume numbers are
7x and 4x
9 is subtracted from each one of them
7x - 9 and 4x - 9
ratio becomes 4 : 2
(7x - 9)/(4x - 9) = 4/2
=> (7x - 9)/(4x - 9) = 2
=> 7x - 9 = 8x - 18
=> 9 = x
Numbers are 7x and 4x
7(9) = 63 , 4(9) = 36
Numbers are 63 and 36
