let one number be 3x and other be 4x
3x+4x=133
7x =133
x=133/7
x=19
3x=19*3=57
4x=4*19=76

AngeleenaJasmine: easy way is 3+4=7X=133 X=133/7=19 now multiply this with 3 and four 3x19=57 and 4x19=76 therefore 57 and 76 are the numbers... is my answer helpful in detail

Hey there !

Solution :

Let the two numbers be ' x ' and ' y '

It is given that x / y = 3 / 4

Hence x = 3y / 4 ------( Equation 1 )

It is given that x + y = 133

So we know x = 3y / 4. Hence substituting in the above equation we get,

3y / 4 + y = 133

Taking LCM we get,

3y + 4y / 4 = 133

7y / 4 = 133

=> 7y = 133 * 4

=> 7y = 532

=> y = 532 / 7 = 76

Hence the number ' y ' is 76.

We know ' x ' is 3y / 4. Hence we get,

x = 76 * 3 / 4

x = 57.

Hence the two numbers ' x ' and ' y ' are 57 and 76 respectively.

Hope my answer helped !
