Answer:

Let the all three numbers be a, b and 100

According to the Question :

⇒ a = (100 - 50)% of Third Number

⇒ a = 50% of 100

⇒ a = 50/100 × 100

⇒ a = 50

⇒ b = (100 - 60)% of Third Number

⇒ b = 40% of 100

⇒ b = 40/100 × 100

⇒ b = 40

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀───────────────

Percent second no is less than first no :

⇢ Percent = (a - b)/a × 100

⇢ Percent = (50 - 40)/50 × 100

⇢ Percent = 10/50 × 100

⇢ Percent = 1/5 × 100

Percent = 20%

Hence, Second number is 20% less than First number.

Question:

Two numbers are less than third number by 50% and 60% Respectively by how much percentage is second number less than first number?

Solution:

Assume the three numbers be a, b and 100

According to the Question :

➪a = (100 - 50)% of Third Number

➪a = 50% of 100

a =  \frac{50}{100}  \times 100

a = 50

➪ b = (100 - 60)% of Third Number

➪ b = 40% of 100

b =  \frac{40}{100}  \times 100

b = 40

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

% second no is less than first no :

\% =  \frac{a - b}{a}  \times 100

\% =  \frac{50 - 40}{50}  \times 100

\% =  \frac{10}{50}  \times 100

\% =  \frac{1}{5}  \times 100

\% = 20\%

∴ the , Second number is 20% less than First number.
