. If the iodine changes from brown to clear the lipid is unsaturated. If the iodine does not change colors the lipid is saturated.

We can identify which compound is unsaturated by Bromine test.
- In bromine test we add bromine to each of the compounds. Bromine is initially brown in color but when it mixes with unsaturated compounds, it loses it's color.
- While bromine does not change it's color when it is added to saturated compounds.
- There are many other tests other than Bromine test to differentiate between unsaturated and saturated compounds like Baeyer's test.
