Let AB and CD be two parallel chords in opposite side of length 12 cm and 9cm resp.
and the radius is 7 cm.
Join OA (centre) and OB . Therefore their length is 7 cm as it is also radius.
Draw a perpendicular OM at AB and ON at CD.
Therefore, we have to find OM+ ON.
In triangle OAM,
OM =root under OA2- AM2
OM=root under(7)2-(6)2
OM = root under 49-36
OM=root under13
OM=3.60. (I)
In triangle OCN
ON= root under (OC)2- (CN)2
ON=√(7)2-(3.5)2
ON=√49-12.25
ON=√36.75
ON =6.06. ii
By addind I and ii
OM+ON=3.60+6.06
OM+ON=9.66cm.
Therefore distance between two chord is 9.66cm.
Mark it as brainlist.
