two parallel side DC and ab of a Trapezium are 12 cm and 36 CM respectively if non parallel sides is equal to 15 cm find the area of trapezium

Hey,,
Using Pythagoras theorem ,
15^2 =12^2+square of the distance between the parallel side
distance between the parallel sides=9cm
Now,
Area of trapezium=1/2*sum of parallel sides*distance between the parallel sides
=1/2*(12+36)*9
=1/2*48*9
=216.

myselfyiri: try n understand.. first make the figure in which the value of parallel sides are given and value of non parallel side is 15 so draw a perpendicular from one parallel side to the other and divide the other parallel side (on which perpendicular is drawn) into 12,12,and 12 and solve it accordingly!
