$4 \times s \: = 2( \: l + b \: ) \\ 4 \times 36 = 2(40 + b) \\ 144 = 80 + 2b \\ 64 = 2b \\ b = 32$
area of square = side × side
36 × 36
= 1296 m
area of rectangle = length × breadth
= 32 × 40
1280 m

Difference between areas
1296 - 1280
