If 2 objects are moving in opposite direction, i.e., the angle between the two is 180° then their relative velocity would be maximum.
Relative velocity of 1st body with respect to 2nd = V1–V2
=V1 +(–V2)
If V2 would be at 180° to V1 then (–V2) would be at 0° to the V1 vector and the the addition of 2 overlapping vectors is maximum.
