Let the cost of a pen be x and a pencil be y

Cost of two pens = 2x

cost of three pencils= 3y

Given that two pens and three pencils cost ₹ 86

=>2x + 3y = 86

And

Cost of four pens = 4x

cost of a pencil = y

Given that four pens and a pencil cost ₹ 112

4x + y = 112

If we work on the second formula, then we have

Y = 112 - 4x

We input this value of y in the first formula

2x + 3(112- 4x) = 86

2x + 336 - 12x = 86

-10x = 86–336

-10x = - 250

X = 25

Thus, Cost of pen is 25 and if we input the values of x in second formula, then the value of pencil will be 12.

Thanks

2x+3y=86 and 4x+y=112 so price of a pen is = 25 and price of pencil is = 12
