The friction between the two people is because of the interlocking of the irregularities of the two surfaces. During sliding, contact points do not get enough time to get interlocked properly. Therefore, less friction. ... This explains why sliding friction is less than static friction..

according to me the frictional force isn't equal as the case in which the wood is getting rolled has the less friction force where as the pulling wood has more
