I think that the answer would be:- In the first situation in the rolling part , less force is applied , and more force is applied in the second situation that is the pulling part because when we will roll a piece of wood there is less force applied and less friction in between the ground and the wooden piece whereas in the second situation while pulling it the force applied is much more than in the first situation
