two persons on the sane side of a tall building notice the angle of elevation of the top of the building to be 30° and 60° respectively. lf the height of the building is 72m, find the distance between the two persons.(√3=1.73)

let the height of building(AB) and distance from buildings are x(C) and y(D) meter.


then in triangle ABC ,


tan 30° = AB/BC


⇒√3 =72/x


⇒x= 72/√3


⇒x=24√3


again in triangle ABD


tan 60 °= AB/BD


⇒1/√3=72/y


⇒y= 72√3


then total distance


BD= x+y


BD=24√3+72√3


⇒BD=96√3


⇒BD= 166.08 m
