According to the Question

Two planes started 2400 miles apart

They pass each other and they must have together to cover = 2400 miles

Now

Using Formula :-

Distance = Speed × Time

First Plane ⇒ 5 × p = 5p

Second Plane ⇒ 5(p + 60)

Now put in a Equation we get :-

5p + 5(p + 60) = 2400

5p + 5p + 300 = 2400

10p + 300 = 2400

10p = 2400 - 300

10p = 2100

p = 2100 / 10

p = 210

Hence :-

One plane speed is 210 miles

Another plane speed ⇒ 210 + 60 = 270 miles

Answer:

Their speed are 210 miles/hour and 270 miles/hour respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Distance the both planes need to cover= 2400 miles

Distance= Speed× Time

  • First plane: 5×t = 5t
  • Second plane:5(p+60)

Solving the Equation:

5p+5(p+60)=2400

5p+5p+300=2400

10p+300=2400

10p= 2400-300

10p=2100

p=210

So, Speed of first plane= 210 miles/hour

Speed of second plane: 210+60= 270 miles/hour
