The field is zero at a distance of 20 cm from the 4 nc charge towards the 1 nc charge.

Given :

q_1=+4\ nc\ ,\ q_2=+1\ nc.

Distance between both the charges , D = 30 cm .

Let , x be the distance from bigger charge where net electric field is zero.

Since , both charge have charge of same type ( + positive).

Therefore, Magnitude of electric field of both the charges at the point is same:

\dfrac{k(4)}{x^2}=\dfrac{k(1)}{(30-x)^2}

Solving above equation for x :

We get , x = 20 cm.

The field is zero at a distance of 20 cm from the 4 nc charge towards the 1 nc charge.

Hence, this is the required solution.
