Two point-charges of 100 uC and -100 uC are
2.0 x 10 m apart. Find (i) dipole moment of the
electric dipole formed, (ii) electric fields at 0.50 m
from the centre of the dipole in the end-on and broad-
side-on positions, (iii) if the electric dipole be placed
in a uniform electric field of 1.0 x 10° N-C and
rotated through 60° from the direction of the field,
then calculate the moment of the force acting on it.

Answer:

1 ). p = q×2l

p = 100×10^6 × 2× 2.0 × 10^-3

p= 2.0 × 10^-7

2). E = 1/4πE°K. ×. 2p/r^3

E = 9× 10^9 × 2×2.0×10^-7/ (0.5)^3

E = 2.88× 10 ^ 4
