Two polarizers are oriented at 34° to one other. Light polarized by 17° angle to the optic axis of the first polarizer. What reduction takes place for the emerging light from the two polarizers. (cos 17°=0.956 and cos34°=0.829) (final answer must be in percentage)

according to malus law intensity is proportinal to (cos theta)^2
total intensity = (cos17)^2 * (cos 34)^2 = (0.9139)*(0.6872) = 0.628
so percentage = 0.628*100% = 62.8%
