Two poles of heights 8m and 12m stand on a plane ground. If the distance between their

feet is 3m, find the distance between their top.

\large\bf\red{Given}

height=8m and 12m

distance between their feet = 3m

\large\bf\green{Solution:-}

(Look at the attachment for Diagram)

ABCD is a Rectangle...

hence,

AB = DC = 8m

AD = BC = 3m

therefore,

DE = EC - DC.

=12-8=>4m

By applying Pythagoras theorem:-

 {ae}^{2}  =  {ad}^{2}  +  {ed}^{2}

 {ae}^{2}  =  {3}^{2}   + {4}^{2}

 {ae}^{2}  = 25

ae =  \sqrt{25}  = 5

5 m
