here is your solution

Given :-

HEIGHT OF POLE = AB = 6M

HEIGHT OF SECOND POLE = CD = 11M

DISTANCE B/W FEET OF POLES = AC = 12M

TO FIND:-

Distance between the tops of pole = BD =?

Solution :-

let
we draw line BE perpendicular to DC
and AC perpendicular to DC as pole is vertical to ground ,

so ,

BE=AC=12m

similarly

AB = EC = 6M

NOW,

DE = DC - E

DE = 11 - 6

DE = 5M

∠BED=90° and BE perpendicular to DC

in △BED

using pythagoream theorem

(BD) {}^{2} = (DE) {}^{2} + (BE) {}^{2} \\ (BD) {}^{2} = 5 {}^{2} + 12 {}^{2} \\ (BD) {}^{2} = 25 + 144 \\ (BD) {}^{2} = 169 \\ BD = \sqrt{169 } \\ BD = 13
so

Distance between their tops = BD = 13m
