according to question,
in the case of inversely proportional product of the numbers must always be constant.
let the value of both x and y be 20.
then,
product = constant

xy = constant

20×20 = constant

400 = constant

if x is increased 20 % then new value of x will be = 20 + 20 % 20

= 20 + 4 = 24

x = 24

product = 400

xy = 400

24 × y = 400

y = 400/24

y = 50 / 3

decrease in y

= ( x - y / x ) × 100

={ ( 20 - 50 / 3 ) / 20 } × 100

=( 10/ 3×20 ) × 100

= 1000 / 60

= 100 / 6 = 50 / 3 = 16 whole 2/ 3

= 16.66 %

therefore , y will be decreased by 16.66%.
