reasons for unstable democracy in Pakistan
Explanation:
- Since its independence, Pakistan 's democratic structure has fluctuated on between civil and military regimes, many counts in its historical past mostly because of political instability, military-civil conflicts, systemic repression and the Military Coup against weak civilian governments leading to the enforcement of martial law across the nation.
- No democratic rule stays intact for whatever cause from the first prime minister to this day. Regimes have also been fired for wrongdoing, criminal offences, but if or not these charges against the civilian government were true or not it has never proved the same in whatever court of law.
- The monarchy, clergy and landowners' aristocracy's social supremacy has contributed to the frequent overthrow of elected regimes and to the formation of authoritarian governments. Pakistan has rendered pro-military organisations stronger in its dispute with India. Such organizations have also said that Pakistan's democratic parties and government are ineffective and Pakistan 's stability is being undermined by self interested parties and chaotic democracy.
- However, lack of substantive international support for Pakistan's democratic rule has promoted military rule. For their own motives such as apprehension of 'global Islamic extremism' and apprehension of Pakistan's nuclear arms falling into militant organisations, the US & other western countries have often supported the military's authoritarian rule. And in South Asia & West Asia, they see the authoritarian dictatorship as defending their own rights.
