There are two possibilities in which the resistors can be connected
1) Series
Net resistance
Rs =R 1+ R 2
Rs =15 ohm
Voltage of the battery =25V
Current flowing through the combination
I = V /Rs
I =25/15
I=1.6 ohm
we know that in series combination the current flowing through both the resistors is the same
I 1= I 2 = 1.6 A
2) Parallel
R 1 and R2 are connected in parallel
Net resistance
Rp =R 1×R 2/ R 1+ R 2
Rp=25×15/40
Rp=9.37 ohms
Voltage of the battery=25 V
Current flowing through the parallel combination
I = V /Rp =25/9.37
I=2.66A
In parallel combination we know that the voltage across both the resistors is the same
I 1 = V /R 1 = 25/25 =1 A
I 2 = V / R 2 =25 /15 =1.66 A
