Case 1: Consider 17 as hypotenuse

then sides will be 8,15,17 and third side will be 8cm(By Pythagoras thm)-(1)

Case 2 : Consider 17 and 15 as perpendicular sides, then hypotenuse will be √514 = 22.6(appx) -(2)

By 1 and 2, the third side can be either 8 or 22.6; thus B and C can be true:answer option a)

[ Also 15 cannot be taken as hypotenuse since it must be the longest (as 17>15)]
