-Ruby's POV-
I grabbed Judy's hand tight. Mother had told us to go buy some goods in the marketplace, and this was our first time. She had warned us not to go anywhere else. Judy was older than I was, more mature. She knew what to do and what not to do. I was three years younger than she was, and mother had told us all the things we shouldn't do. Talk to strangers, take things from strangers, and more. I had to admit, I was scared of the outside world. At school, I was the outsider, the nerd. I started daydreaming. I wonder what Mother is doing now, I thought. Suddenly Judy screamed. GIVE THAT BACK! she yelled, STOP!!! A man, who was covering his face was running away.... with Judy's bag. Crowds formed before my eyes, everyone with a worried expression, asking what had happened. Judy took Mother's old phone, which she had received during her last birthday, and dialed 911. The rest of what happened was a blur. I faintly remember police cars and yelling. Judy remembers it all, though. It's been years since the incident, yet I still have nightmares of it. I wonder where that man is now, if he's sitting in jail, regretting all his choices. I don't remember what Mother said when we came back. I wonder if she was worried for me and Judy, if she was scared that the last time she saw us was telling us to be safe. Now, Judy is in her last year of high school, while I'm just starting. We've grown closer than ever, and I can't imagine life when she leaves for college. That incident was one of many memories of me and her.
