Two small glass sphere of masses 10 and 20 gram moving in a straight line in the same direction with velocities of 3m/s and 2m/s respectively. They collied with each other and after collision glass sphere of mass 10 gram moves with a velocity of 2.5m/s find the velocity of second ball after collision

Answer:

Initial Momentum Of 1st Sphere = mv = 0.1 ×3

= 0.3kg m/s

Initial Momentum Of 2nd Sphere = mv = 0.2 × 2

= 0.4kg m/s

After the collision

Final Momentum Of 1st Sphere = mv = 0.1 × 2.5

= 0.25 kg m/s

Final Momentum Of 2nd Sphere = mv = 0.2×v

= 0.2kg m/s

Initial Momentum = Final Momentum

0.3+0.4 = 0.25 + 0.2v

0.7 = 0.25 + 0.2v

0.45 = 0.2v

v= 2.25m/s
