Two spheres have radii 10 cm & 20 cm. One of the sphere is given 150 uC charge and connected by a wire. Their common potential will be-

(1) 9 x 106 volts
(2) 4.5 x 106 volts
(3) 1-8 x 106 volts
(4) 1.35 x 109 volts

Answer:

=> Here, we can calculate the common potential by using below formula,

V= C₁V₁+C₂V₂/C₁+C₂

now, C₁V₁ = C₂V₂ = Q = 150*10⁻⁶ C

=> V = 2Q /C₁+C₂

C₁ = R₁/K = 10*10⁻²/9*10⁹

C₂ = R₂/k = 20*10⁻²/9*10⁹

C₁+C₂ = 30*10⁻²/9*10⁹

=1/3*10⁻¹⁰

=> V= 2*150*10⁻⁶/1/3*10⁻¹⁰

V = 900 * 10⁻⁶⁺¹⁰

V = 9 * 10⁶ volts

Thus, the common potential of Two spheres will be 9 * 10⁶ volts.
