Two stones of masses m and 2m are whirled in horizontal circles the heavier one in radius r/2and the lighter one is radius r .the tangential speed of lighter stone is n times that of the value of heavier stone when they experience same centripetal forces.the value of n is

Explanation:

m1=m

m2=2m

r1=r

r2=r/2

v1=nv

v2=v

since centripetal force will be equal to centrifugal force which will be equal to mv²/r

since for both stones it is equal

therefore

m1v1²/r1=m2v2²/r2

putting values

m(nv)²/r=2mv²/r/2

on solving

n²=4

n=±2

here ± will decide the direction of tangential velocity.
