Let the center of circle be O.

Let the tangents be PA and PB from point P onto the circle. OA = OB = radius = 6 cm.  Then in the triangles OAP and OBP : 

       ∠OAP = ∠OBP = 90°

       ∠OPA = ∠OPB = 120°/2 = 60°

       ∠POA = ∠POB = 30°

Tan 60 = OA/PA

PA = OA cot 60° = 6 /√3 = 2 √3 cm

The length of tangent = 2√3 cm

We can put the value of √3 i.e 1.732.....
