quantity of oil in first tanker=850l

quantity of oil in second tanker=680l

to find the maximum capacity of the container which can measure the oil of both tankers in exact number of letters we have to find the HCF of 850l and 680l

factorization of 850=2×5×17×5

factorization of 680=2×2×2×17×5

HCF of 850 and 680=2×5×17=170l

hence, the required capacity of the container is 170l.

hope its helps
