16 Litres were taken from 2nd Tank

Step-by-step explanation:

Let say  X  litre taken from 2nd Tank

Then Taken from 1st Tank = 38 - X Litre

in Third Tank Total = 38 L

Ratio of Petrol to Diesel = 5 : 4

Petrol = 5 * 38 / 9  = 190/9  Litre

Diesel = 4 * 38/9  = 152/9  Litre

 first tank the ratio of petrol to diesel is 7:4

=> Petrol  = 7 * (38-X)/11

Diesel  = 4 * (38-X)/11

second tank the ratio is 4:5

=> Petrol = 4X/9

   Diesel = 5X/9

7 * (38-X)/11 +  4X/9   =  190/9

=> 63(38 - X)  + 44X = 190 * 11

=> 19X  = 63*38  - 190*11

=> 19X = 2394 - 2090

=> 19X = 304

=> X = 16

16 Litres were taken from 2nd Tank
