Two tourist who are at a distance of 40 km from their hotels wants to reach the hotel. in the shortest possible time. They have a bicycle which they decide to use turn by turn They agree to leave the bicycle intermediate points between which one walks and other ride the bicycle both can walk with the speed of 5km/hr and ride the bicycle with 15 km/hr what will be the mean speed of tourists?​

To reach the camp in minimum time, they must reach simultaneously. They should share the entire distance equally by walk and by cycle.

Total time = \frac{20}{5}+\frac{20}{15} = \frac{16}{3}hrs = 320 minutes.

The Ideal time of the cycle = \frac{20}{5} - \frac{20}{15} = \frac{8}{3}hrs = 160 minutes
