Step-by-step explanation:

relative speed =(90-60)=30km/h=25/3 m/s

the time they will meet =(60+85)=145×3/25

=17.4 sec

Velocity of train 1 = 60km/h

Velocity of train 2 = 90 km/h

Distance to be covered by both trains to pass each other = 60+85

                                                                                                    = 145km

Case 1 : Both trains are travelling in same direction

Relative velocity = 90 - 60 = 30km/h

Distance to be covered = 145km

Time taken = Distance / Velocity

                    = 145 / 30

                    = 4.83 hr

Case 2 : Both trains are travelling in opposite direction

Relative velocity = 90 + 60 = 120km/h

Distance to be covered = 145km

Time taken = Distance / Velocity

                    = 145 / 120

                    = 1.2 hr
