Two trains a and b of length 400m each are moving ontwo parallel tracks with a uniform speed of 72km/h inthe same direction, with a ahead of

b. The driver of b decides to overtake a and accelerates by 1m/s2 . After50s , the end point of b moves past the head light oftrain

a. What was the original distance between the twotrains.

Explanation:

Train A:-

Speed = 72km/h = 72×5/18 = 20 m/s

Time = 50 seconds

Distance = Speed × Time

= 20 × 50

= 1000 m

Train B:-

u = 72 km/h = 20 m/s

t = 50 seconds

a = 1 m/s²

s = ut + 1/2at²

= 20×50 + 1/2×1×(50)²

= 1000+ 1/2×2500

= 1000+1250

= 2250 m

Distance travelled more by train B = 2250-1000

= 1250 m

a) Length of 1 train = 400 m

Distance between them = 1250-400

= 850 m
