Distance between trains =2km 2000m
Length of trains =200m and 300m

So total distance =2000+500=2500m

Resultant speed =30+20=50m/s

Time in which trains cross each other =2500/50=50sec

Answer:

Time taken by the trains is  50 sec to cross each other .

Step-by-step explanation:

Explanation:

Given , two trains are 2km apart  = 2 × 1000 m apart

Length of the trains are 200 m and 300 m .

Speed of the trains are 20 m /s and 30m/s

Step 1:

Now , the relative  speed of the trains = (20 + 30)m/s = 50 m/sec

and the total distance covered by the trains

= (2000 + 200+ 300) = 500m

Therefore , time taken by the trains to cross each other = \frac{Distance }{Speed}

Now put the total distance 2500 and speed = 50 sec in the above formula

⇒Time = \frac{2500}{50} sec= 50 sec .

Final answer :

Hence , in 50 sec the trains are cross each other .
